Welcome to our  October Newsletter 2015

The super boats off-shore racing gave us a real dose of excitement in mid-September. We saw plenty of action from Northwind and our guests really enjoyed the sight of fast boats and helicopters.

The Sunshine Castle at Bli Bli is a great place for families to explore. During school holidays and at time in between, you will Sir Justyn in residence. Sir Justyn is a fourteenth century knight who takes time out from the Crusades to educate 21st Century commoners about law and order, food, dance, weapons, games and pastimes and dress in the 14th  Century.

December 12th 2015 brings an annual for us: the Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade. There is agreat atmosphere as crowds gather along the canals to see the vast array of boats, canoes, kayaks, yachts, motor boats and fishing boats sailing around the canals from early evening into the dark. They are all lit up with vary degrees of artistry and it’s magical. The houses along the canals also get into the spirit of things and put up lights to add to the atmosphere.

Air Fraser Island now flies from the Sunshine Coast Airport. The 40 minute flight takes you along the beautiful coastline before you land on the beach at Fraser. You can then take a self drive tour of the Island, or take an organised coach tour  visiting places like Lake McKenzie, the wreck of the “Maheno”, Central Station or any of the other amazing places on Fraser. Air Fraser Island offers packages for individuals, groups and families.

“Classic and Cupcakes” is the theme of the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra concert on 17th October at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Maroochydore. Conductor Adrian King has selected a programme of popular classical music including “Finlandia” by Sibelius and “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland. The programme highlights the strong brass section of the orchestra. And, yes, there will be cupcakes for afternoon tea.

The Aqua Fun Park at Bli Bli is all about getting wet. The wake-boarding park has just had a huge up-grade and sessions are available for children as well as those who are more confident and competent. The fun park has lots of inflatable obstacles to run on, over and around, to bounce on, crawl through and generally have a busy time on. The park also features a barra fishing lake where you can have all the fun of catching a giant barra! The complex has shelters and BBQs and is a great place for families to have fun.

String Ozzi opened just a few weeks ago here in Mooloolaba. They are in the group  of shops at the intersection of Tarcoola Ave and Brisbane Road. They make their own pasta on site, as well as making their own sauces. With 9 pastas and 17 sauces to choose from, plus salads and 3 arancini choices there is something for everyone. They also do gluten free. Wednesday is Seniors’ Day.
