December 2015 Newsletter

Welcome to our December 2015 Newsletter.

It’s hard to believe another year is on the horizon.

We have a fabulous sunrise photo to share with you, taken by one of our guests during her stay with us in November. She has given her permission to share it with you.

WE would like to gently remind all of you who are coming to have Christmas with us  here are Northwind, that you must leave forwarding instructions for Santa so he knows where to deliver his gifts: very important.

The Mooloolaba Christmas Tree was lit last week. The tree lighting ceremony , which included councillors, the Mayor, carol singers (the Sunshine Coast Choral Society), a stilt-walking angel and men who know about electricity, marked the start of the Sunshine Coast Christmas celebrations. Mooloolaba businesses are getting into the spirit of the season with lights and decorations. Santa will row across the bay on Christmas Eve in time for the fireworks by the Surf Club… and then there is New Year’s Eve….

Mark’s Auto Detailing is a Maroochydore based car groomer who will come and pick up your car, take it to their detailing workshop and deliver it back. They offer car polishing and scratch removal, interior and exterior car detailing.

For those of you struggling with gift ideas don’t forget a day spa voucher (for him or her) is always a welcome luxury. Lyndsay at Aloha Day Spa on First Ave has some great packages on offer for Christmas and the New Year.

Don’t forget there are vouchers for the more adventurous like a fishing trip, jetboat ride, sailing experience or jetski hire.

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council has been very busy around Mooloolaba with “geotextile containment” (we call it sandbagging) at the Spit end of the beach. Lots of heavy machines, and men playing with sand which will result in less damage from erosion of the Spit. There has also been some work ‘streetscaping’ the beach end of Brisbane Road.

Ric’s Gourmet International has been in its current site for over 15 years. Ric and his wife have been part of the hospitality scene here in Mooloolaba since 1983. Born in Mooloolaba in the 50s, Ric has many stories of how the area has changed. Many of our guests and residents love dining there as they truly deliver on their philosophy of providing good food at a fair price. It’s taken a few years for us to get a photo of Ric for our newsletter but we got one last week as he stood beside what he calls the “storyboard” of his life. It’s on The Esplanade. just along from us and they’re open 7 days for breakfast through to mid-afternoon.

Christmas Wonderland will be on at Aussie World again on the 18th and 19th December. From 6.00pm until 9.30pm there will be rides, ice-skating, Santa’s village, elves making toys in the workshop and roving carollers. Come in costume as there is a prize for the best. Bookings are essential as you need a Christmas pass to get in.
