Mooloolaba Triathlon

The annual Subaru Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival has been held in Mooloolaba each March since 1993. USM owns and manages the event.  While the event attracts elite international and international athletes, there are also events for the “not so elite”. The Elite men’s and Elite Women’s events are the feature events for the three day festival. Opportunities for the athletes of varying abilities andinterests include the Age Group Triathlon, teams triathlon, the Asics Twilight 5 km run, Mooloolaba 1K Ocean Swim,  and the  Special Tri.   The triathlon comprises a 750m swim – usually swum off the beautiful Mooloolaba beach but moved to the Mooloolah River (canals) if conditions are not safe for competitors-20 km bike ride and a 5 km run. The Superkidz event is for children aged seven to eleven and consists of a 100m swim, 1km cycle and 500m run. Children aged eleven to thirteen will compete a 200m swim, 3 km cycle and 1 km run.

The Mooloolaba Sport and Lifestyle expo also runs during the festival. This has been held in the Festival Village at the wharf, just outside Sealife Mooloolaba (formerly Underwater World). This is a ten minute walk from Northwind Beachfront Apartments. In 2015 the Lifestyle Expo was moved to The Esplanade near the finish line.

Both the  run and bike courses go along Mooloolaba’s scenic Esplanade past Northwind Beachfront Apartments. Each self-contained apartment in Northwind Apartments has a balconey from which you can watch the competitors for the bike and run courses.
